Job Description

About the Position:

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, experienced and qualified candidate to join the Shire of Broome in the role of Manager Governance, Strategy and Risk.

Reporting to the Director Corporate Services, this role is responsible for managing corporate governance, customer services, risk and procurement as well as coordinating Integrated Planning and Reporting requirements. 

The position ensures the effective operation of administrative and governance functions and is responsible for ensuring that the Shire meets all legislative, statutory, policy and performance obligations.

About You:

Our ideal candidate will have postgraduate qualifications in Business/Commerce/Law or similar relevant area and previous experience Local Government with substantial exposure in developing, implementing and reviewing policies, local laws, and procedures is a must!

You will have a comprehensive operational knowledge of the Local Government Act 1995 and associated Regulations and a demonstrated ability to interpret and apply legislation in an efficient manner.

Highly developed communication and organisational skills with an ability to prioritise multiple projects to meet strict deadlines with other conflicting priorities is also essential for this role.

About the Shire:

Working for the Shire of Broome means you will enjoy:

  • Base salary range between $125-$135,000 per annum (depending on qualifications, skills and experience).
  • $10,000 Broome location allowance.
  • Housing allowance between $16,000-$22,000 per annum depending on home ownership.
