Job Description

About the Position:

We are looking for an experienced Parks and Gardens Team Leader to lead and support an operational field team across either the North or South Broome area.

This is a hands-on leadership role - you'll spend the majority of your time working alongside your team in the field, while taking responsibility for daily scheduling, task allocation, team development and safety. Reporting to the Parks and Gardens Coordinator, you'll be the immediate point of contact for your team, mentoring members to deliver high-quality maintenance across Broome's parks, reserves and streetscapes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading by example in the field, with approximately 80% of time spent on hands-on operational work
  • Daily scheduling, task allocation and resource planning to maximise team efficiency
  • Mentoring, coaching and developing team members to enhance skills and performance
  • Monitoring operational progress and adjusting plans to meet objectives
  • Promoting a positive WHS culture, ensuring hazards and incidents are reported and addressed
  • Serving as the first point of contact for your team, providing guidance, support and conflict resolution
  • Liaising with other teams, departments and stakeholders to ensure coordinated operations

About You:

Our ideal candidate will be:

  • Experienced in supervising a team, with a minimum of two years in a similar role
  • Knowledgeable in horticulture, with demonstrated experience in parks and gardens operations
  • A strong communicator with well-developed verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Organised and effective at time management, with the ability to plan and work to a schedule
  • Competent in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable with intermediate computer tasks
  • A genuine team leader who leads by example and brings out the best in those around them
  • Sound in their knowledge of WHS regulations and committed to a safe workplace
  • Holder of a Certificate III in Horticulture (or similar), current C Class Driver's Licence, White Card, High Risk Work Licence, and Traffic Management certification (or willing to attain)
