Job Description
About the Position:
An opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, experienced and qualified candidate to join the Shire of Broome in the 5 year contract role of Manager Financial Services.
Reporting to the Director Corporate Services, this role ensures the management and control of financial services and compliance with local government legislation and Australian Accounting Standards. You are responsible for achieving the strategic financial objectives and ensure that appropriate internal financial controls are in place. Leading and proactively developing the team is also a critical part of this role.
Tertiary finance or accounting qualifications, with CA or CPA membership,
Significant Local government finance experience, including long-term strategic financial planning, statutory reporting, budget development and management.
Experience delivering Annual Financial reports, statutory budget documents with a thorough knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards
Previous experience delivering management reporting in Local Government or business
Local Government rates management and modelling experience
Highly effective interpersonal, leadership and organisational skills with an ability to meet strict deadlines in the midst of other competing priorities.
